WHOIS Lookup

Look up the registration details of any domain — registrar, key dates, status, DNSSEC and nameservers.

Some registries (for example .al) don’t publish registration data — results may be limited.

What is a WHOIS lookup?

A WHOIS lookup shows the public registration record of a domain — the registrar it’s registered through, when it was created and when it expires, its status codes, DNSSEC and the nameservers it uses. Upflare queries live RDAP data (the modern replacement for classic WHOIS) so results are accurate and up to date.

What the results mean

Registrar
The company the domain is registered through, with its IANA ID.
Registered / Expires
When the domain was first created and when it needs renewal.
Status codes
EPP codes showing locks and restrictions (e.g. clientTransferProhibited).
Nameservers
The DNS servers that answer authoritatively for the domain.
DNSSEC
Whether the domain is cryptographically signed against DNS spoofing.
Abuse contact
Where to report abuse involving the domain or its registrar.

Frequently asked questions

Most registries now redact personal contact details for privacy (GDPR). You’ll usually see “REDACTED FOR PRIVACY” instead of the registrant’s name.

It’s a registrar lock that prevents the domain from being transferred away before it’s unlocked — a normal security setting.

Some ccTLDs (like .al) don’t publish registration data at all, so no public record is available.
